Jesse Soto — Recording Secretary and Safety & Health Advisor

June 11, 2011 will be Jesse Soto's 30th anniversary as a Southwest Airlines employee.  During this time Jesse has been a huge advocate for the promotion of safe practices that ensure the TWU Local 555 membership get through their respective shifts and home to thier families.  Jesse's involvement with the union extends all the way back to 1989 with both ROPA and TWU Local 555.  His elected positions are as follows: 

• IAM Shop Steward 1984
• TWU Local 555 ELP Station Rpresentative
• TWU Local 555 Secretary Treasurer (4 Terms)
• TWU Local 555 Recording Secretary (2 Terms and Current Position)
• Appointed TWU Local 555 Safety & Health Advisor (1996-2005 & 2007-Present)

Jesse's passion for his union involvement stems from a time that he realized that management didn't care about us.  If you decided to stand your ground you became a target.  once he had this realization he has been standing up for the rights of the TWU Local 555 membership ever since.  Jesse says,  "It sure does feel better coming to work when you know you have a contract and a good union to back you up."  Mr. Soto would advise every member of TWU Local 555 that if you allow management to abuse your contractual rights, THEY WILL!
